Reimagining Rural Education: Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal Visits Help Us Help Them's (HUHT) Adhigam Bhoomi to Witness Scalable NΕΡ 2020 Implementation

In a major initiative aimed at transforming rural education across the region, His Excellency Shri R. N. Ravi, Hon'ble Governor of West Bengal, visited Adhigam Bhoomi, the flagship residential Centre of Excellence established by non-profit organization Help Us Help Them (HUHT). The visit highlighted an innovative, field-tested model that operationalizes the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, bridging mainstream academic curricula with practical rural skills to advance the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047.

 The Hon'ble Governor interacted directly with 1,000 tribal and rural girl students receiving 100% free residential education as well as parents visiting from several districts across West Bengal. The Governor toured live student-led learning spaces demonstrating 18 integrated skill domains, centered on the Roti (Agriculture), Kapda (Textiles), and Makaan (Rural Architecture) framework alongside renewable energy, technology, and entrepreneurship, showing how experiential education is embedded directly into core subjects like Mathematics, Science, and Languages.

Beyond serving as a standalone residential campus, Adhigam Bhoomi functions as an educational laboratory designed for systemic expansion. Help Us Help Them’s contextual learning approach, titled "Apni Mitti Se Judi Shiksha," has already achieved proof of scale through its 100 Schools Project (Adhigam Gram Shiksha Abhiyan), impacting over 10,000 students across low-cost private schools in West Bengal.

To support wider adoption, Help Us Help Them (HUHT) has developed a comprehensive, ready-to-deploy implementation package, including teacher manuals, student resources, assessment tools, and monitoring systems, designed to integrate smoothly into existing State Board syllabi without displacing standard academics.

Highlighting the vision behind the initiative, Ms. Mukti Gupta, Managing Director at Mukti Group & Founder of Help Us Help Them (HUHT), stated: "Our core philosophy of 'Apni Mitti Se Judi Shiksha' aims to provide an education deeply rooted in local culture and traditional skills while preparing children for modern livelihoods. By integrating practical, hands-on learning with academic excellence, we are building a scalable ecosystem that fosters rural innovation and self-reliance. These children will grow into rural entrepreneurs who will return to their villages and communities to establish enterprises, strengthen the rural economy, create local employment, and ultimately contribute towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

As the National Education Policy 2020 places strong emphasis on skill-integrated learning over the coming decade, Help Us Help Them (HUHT) now aims to collaborate with both the Central and State Governments to support its effective implementation. With more than 12 lakh government schools across rural India, including nearly 4 lakh schools serving Grades 6 to 10, the organization envisions working through central-level advocacy, state-level partnerships, and collaborations with local non-profit organizations to scale this model. Help Us Help Them (HUHT) has already developed a comprehensive roadmap and implementation framework, which it intends to present to the Government to facilitate the integration of contextual, skill-based education into government schools across the country with institutional support. 

With a long-term goal of empowering rural government schools across India by 2031, HUHT's engagement with state leadership serves as a strategic step toward strengthening civil society-government partnerships and supporting the nationwide implementation of NEP 2020. By aligning grassroots learning with national education priorities, the initiative seeks to nurture self-sustaining learners, rural entrepreneurs, and future community leaders capable of driving sustainable development in rural India.
